Fæblekin was formed to build community in our space in South Berkeley and to introduce board and tabletop gaming to new people. We believe that there’s a lack of spaces to gather in that aren’t organized specifically for commerce, and that therefore the vast majority of social spaces focus more on making money than on building connection.

Fæblekin is a platform, and we don’t mean that in the traditional sense.Fæblekin is the raft needed to cross a river when you have no boat yourself. We’re a hub providing space that games and events can be run out of. More than just fun and games, we’re building a community space that can act as a hub for people seeking to build social connections in the Bay Area. Communities and organizations we find alignment with will be able to rent the space at a lower cost than local commercial rental space.

Our space features a meeting room capable of hosting over two dozen attendees and two private offices/meeting rooms.  We’re also laying the foundations for a studio where podcasts can be recorded, in order to be able to share information about social spaces and gaming with other storytellers and creators. And we plan to facilitate the growth of local artists by displaying and facilitating their creative growth in our gallery space. Our goal is to be able to operate as a no-cost third space funded through membership, gifts, and donations.
